NEW HAVEN — An accident has caused a power outage at Southern Connecticut State University and administrators have canceled classes until 5 p.m.

Officials said a car collided with a pole and caused the pole to fall on Crescent Street around 8:30 a.m.

The school administration said the campus will be closed for students, faculty and non-essential staff until 5 p.m. Power has been restored to the residence halls.

Crescent Street is closed to traffic between Fitch Street and Lot 12.

All classes scheduled before 5 p.m. are canceled.
