EAST GRANBY — Firefighters spent much of the day battling a massive blaze in an East Granby home on Monday. The fire at 111 South Main St. was called in shortly before 11 a.m.

Route 187 was closed while crews tried to gain control of the fire, but has since reopened. The home is located near East Granby High School, but educators said there was no disruption to the school day.

Several towns, including Bloomfield and Simsbury, responded for mutual aid. Luckily, no one was hurt.

The house is a total loss.
