HAMDEN — UConn isn’t the only local team in the Final Four. The number one hockey team in the country, Quinnipiac University, heads to Tampa, Florida Tuesday ahead of Thursday’s semi-final game against Boston College.
The 31-3-7 Bobcats were champions of the Albany Regional beating RIT 4-0 and UMass Lowell 4-1 to get to Tampa, but there they will meet up with 3 perennial powerhouses in college hockey, Boston College, North Dakota, and Denver.
Even though they are nationally ranked as #1, Quinnipiac is considered the underdog.
The Bobcats played well in Albany, but they’ve had a long time off. By Thursday, there will be 11 days between games.
The school is hosting a watch party starting at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
