HARTFORD–More than a dozen protesters stood outside the school bus yard in Hartford on Friday to protest what they consider unfair treatment.

The drivers say they make much less money than drivers from bus yards in other towns in the state.

The drivers are represented by the SEIU Local 2001 / Connecticut State Employees union. The union organized the protest.

The goal is to get wages equal to those in other towns.

DATTCO, the company that runs the Hartford school bus yard, released a statement about the protest:

DATTCO is currently engaged in labor negotiations with SEIU local 2001, who is the bargaining agent elected by the drivers in Hartford.  We are continuing to bargain in good faith, until we reach contract terms that are mutually agreeable to all parties, and are best for our company and our employees.  We have confidence in our drivers who have displayed professionalism and patience during these negotiations.  We look forward to our next bargaining session, and to reaching an agreement.
