Man fatally shot outside Waterbury bar during argument at closing time

WATERBURY – A man was shot dead after an argument outside of a Waterbury bar early Saturday morning.

Police were called to Bobby D’s Bar at 227 Whitewood Road in Waterbury just after 2 a.m.

Police said that Harry Mendoza, 36, was involved in an altercation with a group of men when he was shot once in the chest and once in the left thigh.

He was taken to Waterbury Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds just over four hours later, according to police.

Police said the investigation is ongoing at this time.
