WEST HARTFORD - On Saturday, a group of 14-year-old baseball players from West Hartford left for Cuba to compete against local players there.

It's part of the first ever USA-Cuba Goodwill Baseball Tour, a pilot program through Teen Cultures Connect.

Teen Cultures Connect is a non-profit that helps teens from different countries experience different cultures.

After the teens visit Holguin, Cuba, this week, the friends they make and play against there will be sponsored for a trip to West Hartford in July.

There was a send-off for the team Friday night in Newington  and FOX 61's Jimmy Altman is along for the ride and heading to Cuba with the team to witness the history-making visit.

Since the United States began mending its relationship with the island country and allowing travel for the first time in more than half a century, several organizations have taken advantage of the new business opportunities.
