HARTFORD -- The celebration just keeps on going! Thousands of people honored the UConn women’s basketball team with a victory parade and rally in Hartford Sunday and FOX 61 covered the excitement live. The lady Huskies took a victory lap following an unprecedented fourth consecutive NCAA tournament championship.

About 20,000 spectators attended the parade, according to Hartford Police. The State of Connecticut, City of Hartford, and the Hartford Business Improvement District hosted the victory parade and rally outside the XL Center to congratulate the UConn Women’s Basketball team for winning the 2016 NCAA National Championship.

The rally featured music, confetti and remarks from Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin, Governor Dannel Malloy and a number of players, including senior forwards Breanna Stewart and Morgan Tuck. Unfortunately Coach Geno Auriemma couldn't attend because he was sick.

UConn fans from all over the country checked in with FOX 61 to show their Husky pride. We heard from folks in Texas, Florida, and California who were watching the parade live and sending in their pictures decked out in UConn gear.

UConn defeated Syracuse 82-51 in the championship game April 5.
