LEDYARD — A standoff ended peacefully last night after a man barricaded himself inside his home following a domestic incident.

Police responded to a home on Stonybrook Road on Saturday evening after learning of a dispute between a victim and her ex-boyfriend.

The two individuals were involved in a physical altercation around 3 p.m. The victim was able to leave the residence and contact police, informing them that her ex-boyfriend was still there and emotionally unstable.

Response teams approached the home, but were confronted with a stand-off situation with the man inside. They established a perimeter around the home and began on and off communication with him, which lasted a total of six hours.

The man in question surrendered just after 9:30 p.m. and was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London for treatment of minor injuries.

Police have not yet charged the individual as of Sunday morning, but stated that they will make an arrest once he is released from the hospital.

No neighbors were evacuated, but a call went out explaining the situation and to advise people to stay inside their homes. There was no danger to the public and Stonybrook Road was closed during the incident.

Ledyard Police handled the stand-off and subsequent investigation, with assistance from the Connecticut State Police, Montville Police and Norwich Police departments.
