WATERBURY — A 20-year-old man is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of another man at a bar in Waterbury after closing time.

Police in Waterbury said on Sunday they’ve obtained a warrant for the arrest of Luis Castro. Among the charges he faces are murder, reckless endangerment and illegal discharge of a firearm.

The warrant stems from the Saturday morning shooting of 36-year-old Harry Mendoza at Bobby D’s bar on Whitewood Road.

Police said Mendoza was shot in the chest and thigh around 2 a.m. He was taken to a hospital and died a few hours later. Police said Mendoza was involved in an altercation with a group of men prior to the shooting.

Officials warn that Castro is still at large and considered dangerous.
