HARTFORD -- Donald Trump is blazing a trail across the United States and Friday night, Connecticut residents will get  to see the Republican Presidential front-runner up close and personal during a rally at the Connecticut Convention Center.

Trump supporters are already mobilizing.

"I think it's definitely time for a change," said Trump supporter Lisa Logash.  "He's run a business successfully and it's time for a candidate like this and not just a career politician."

While Trump is looking to reach out to his supporters, there's concern about the anti-Trump movement, like what happened in Chicago and other cities where hundreds of people protested his visit, causing him to cancel in some cases.

"We need to come out and show a strong force," said IV Staklo from Answer Coalition.  "Not only of opposition to Donald Trump but also support and protection for the communities that could be targeted by his racism, by his misogyny and by his homophobia."

Hartford police are bracing for what is expected to be a highly attended event where thousands of people are expected in downtown which means for significantly more police presence.

"We hope that it's a safe event for everybody and we hope to have as little impact on the city as possible and at the same time remaining impartial and protecting everyone's rights," said Deputy Chief Brian Foley of the Hartford police department.

Doors open to the convention center at 4:00 p.m. and Trump's speech is set for 7:00 p.m. FOX61.com will stream the speech live.
