State Police K9 injured after falling 20 feet while searching for missing woman at Rocky Neck State Park

PorterNIANTIC–A State Police K9 is recovering after getting injured while trying to rescue someone.

On Monday around 9:40 p.m. State Police responded with a K9 unit to Rocky Neck State Park to assist the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection with finding a missing 49-year-old woman.

Around 11:30 p.m., during the search for the missing woman, K9 Porter fell around 20 feet off a rock wall.

Porter was taken to an emergency veterinarian’s office to be evaluated after hurting his right leg. They are still trying to determine if the leg is broken, but Porter will be out of commission for a while while he recovers.

The woman was eventually found and unharmed.
