WEST HAVEN — Police arrested an Ansonia man after residents complained of a naked man on the beach near a Sandy Hook memorial playground Monday afternoon.

Police arrested David Gerrish, 49, of Ansonia, shortly around 4:30 p.m. at Sea Bluff Beach on charges of public indecency and breach of peace.

Gerrish was found in his car which was backed into the lot facing the Sandy Hook playground. He alluded to police that he may have been naked for a short period of time.

The playground was constructed in honor of the memory of Charlotte Bacon, one of the children killed in the Sandy Hook tragedy in December, 2012. The playground was constructed in 2014.
