College students from schools across Connecticut rallied at the Capitol for House Bill 5376.
It would require all colleges and universities in the state, public or private, to adopt the "yes means yes" standard for handling alleged sexual assault cases.
"Affirmative Consent" would reinforce that any sex at school was consensual, and it would essentially shift the burden of proof on the accused to prove that he or she received consent.
"This bill does not presume the guilt of the responding individual. There is still an investigation process," UConn student Austin Longendyke said.
The bill failed in the House in the last legislative session. Supporters believe the bill has a much better chance this session and that it could be called to a vote this week.
