NEW BRITAIN -- It was a beautiful day for some baseball!
Fans turned out in New Britain to welcome their new home team, the New Britain Bees! It was the team's home-opener and first official game ever, though the team did have an exhibition last week.
New Britain Stadium was alight with excitement as the sound of bats was back after what many feared would be the end of baseball for the Hardware City. Unfortunately, the team didn't win its first game--the York Revolution defeated the home team 4-3.
The Bees replaced the Rock Cats last year after that team moved to Hartford to become the Yard Goats, but at that time it wasn't known that a new team would move in.
The Bees are part of the independent Atlantic League, meaning they are not associated with a Major League Team like the Rock Cats were with the Colorado Rockies.
