SOUTHINGTON -- A Southington Public Schools staff member is due in court today for assault and breach of peace after a fight that sent her supervisor to the hospital.

Melinda Chantea Fisher, 29, allegedly punched her supervisor in the face, banged the victim's head into a wall and kicked the victim after the supervisor confronted her about being late for work. Fisher then threw a cup of coffee at her supervisor.

The altercation happened on April 21 at South End Elementary School.

A parent who was dropping off a student along with other staff members intervened, pulling Fisher from the victim.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with face, head and back pain.

According to the principal, some students may have witnessed the fight, but no one was in danger.

Fisher, a district-wide technology assistant in the school system, is due in Bristol Superior Court today.
