Several injured when Six Flags ride stops mid-point

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Four people received medical attention for minor injuries after a ride at Six Flags St. Louis stopped mid-point Friday.

According to officials, just before 11:30 a.m., ambulances were dispatched to the park after the Boomerang stopped at a mid-point location. After the ride stopped, guests were able to safely exit the ride and the park’s first aid staff responded to treat those injured. It’s not clear if that’s what caused the accident.

According to authorities, officials from the Eureka Police Department, EMS and the fire department were called to the park.

The park was closed to general admission at the time of the incident for the Six Flags Music Festival. During the festival, students from elementary, middle and high school choirs were invited to enjoy the park and perform in the Palace Theater in front of a panel of judges.

During Friday’s festival, the park was scheduled to be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and attendees were given access to several of the park’s attractions, including The Joker, Inc., Batman the Ride, The Ninja, Boomerang, Superman Mr. Freeze and the Log Flume.

Park officials do not know why the ride malfunctioned.
