BRIDGEPORT — Bridgeport officials and local firefighters gathered over the weekend to rededicate a city street in memory of a 3-year-old girl who was killed in a January fire at her home.

At the corner of Bunnell Street and Stratford Avenue, a ceremony was held on Sunday to rename Bunnell Street “Sincere Pettway Lane” to honor the girl who died from smoke inhalation during the Jan. 3 blaze.

The girl’s mother, 26-year-old Shaneese Pettway, suffered burns in the fire at Greentree Condominiums. Sincere Pettway was found on the second floor by firefighters searching through thick smoke in the condominium.

City Councilor Eneida Martinez, a cousin of Shaneese Pettway, was on hand for the dedication.
