WALLINGFORD — An arrest has been made after a shooting at a Wallingford liquor store last week.
On Thursday, Wallingford police received a call that a 19-year-old Milford man had been shot. He was found in the parking lot of an elementary school, but it was determined that he had been shot at the CT Beverage Mart, located 1070 North Colony Rd.
Police said he and his companion had been at the store to meet with another individual for a narcotics, who police believe to be the suspect in the shooting. During the meeting, which was an arranged purchase of narcotics, the suspect tried to rob the victim and his friend and then shot the victim before driving off in a white BMW.
On Monday, police arrested the suspect, Wayne Bradbury, 31, of Hamden, at the Comfort Inn in Meriden. The white BMW was in the parking lot at the hotel.
In Bradbury’s hotel room, which was rented by his girlfriend–Melissa Farmer, 20, of Plainville–police found $5,000 worth of cocaine, packaging materials and scales, as well as $4,000 in cash.
Both Bradbury and Farmer were charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell.
Bradbury was also charged with assault in the first degree, criminal attempt at robbery in the first degree and criminal possession of a firearm. He already has charges pending in another case for assault in the second degree.
Bradbury was held on a $500,000 bond for the assault charges and an additional $250,000 for the drug charges. If he can’t make bond he’ll be in court on Tuesday, otherwise he’s set to appear in court on May 23.
Farmer was held on $25,000 bond and is due in court May 23.
