NEW BRITAIN--Exercise is important, as a group of students from eight schools across the state found out first hand.
The more-than 300 students ran a mile on Tuesday, but it wasn't just any mile: it was the final mile of a half-marathon or marathon the students have been working towards all spring. They've been running one mile at a time to reach their goals.
It's all part of the Hartford Marathon Foundation's newly expanded "Fit-Kids" program, which promotes health and fitness for youth. The event is called the "Final Mile Event."
The mile was run at Walnut Hill Park in New Britain.
