NEW BRITAIN -- One Connecticut city's got the bees...and also, the primates!

"New Britain needed this," says resident Daniel Eshou of Go Ape, a new adventure course that recently opened for it's first full season at A.W. Stanley Park.

Participants take a half-hour safety course before taking to the trees, which are now adorned with spring blooms. Folks of all ages and stages can go at their own pace, balancing on tight ropes, navigating swinging steps and squeezing through rope tunnels.

Several zip lines are major attractions.

"What’s really unique about our particular course is the water component," explains Garcia.  "You’re actually zipping over a pond."

In fact, the Go Ape sports the longest zip line in the state at almost 1,000 feet!

"My energy level during the course was definitely high," says Eshou. "That’s because I love it! Big adrenaline rush!"

One Tarzan Swing is considered extreme is a favorite of Garcia's. "It has a bit of a drop so it gets your heart rate up a little, if you like that roller coaster feeling," says Garcia.

It's a natural experience in a city's public park.

"I grew-up up the street. We didn’t have any of this," says Jose Ortiz. "Definitely something good to speak about. 'Hard hittin' New Britian'! It's about time."

Go Ape is also a place where monkeying around is encouraged!

"We’re right in your backyard," says Garcia. "We can have everyone living life adventurously! That’s one of our slogans!"
