TRUMBULL – Trumbull police said five children between 3-12 years old were taken to the hospital with minor injuries during a golf cart accident at an American Youth Soccer tournament in Trumbull Saturday morning.
Police went to Madison Middle School on Madison Avenue after a golf cart driven by an adult tournament official, carrying the children, rolled backwards.
While driving up the top of the hill, the front wheels came off the ground and caused the driver to lose control. The children were all thrown from the cart, and some were run over, according to police.
A weekly soccer tournament was taking place at several adjoining fields.
