EAST HAVEN--After a five hour long board meeting that included what’s being called a “freak out” by a Board of Education member, some parents are questioning the leadership of East Haven schools.

Hennesey loudly stated, “You guys make me sick.” “What an embarrassment.” “Get out your math books tomorrow.” “What's it all about? The money. We haven't talked one bit about education tonight.”

Lina Travers, a parent of a high school junior, says she understands board member Tom Hennessey's frustration, but says his behavior was out of control.

Travers left the meeting disgusted. She says, “I think we need a new superintendent and we need one who will focus on education and the kids. “

Now, a petition is circulating regarding Superintendent Dr. Portia Bonner’s future.

FOX 61 told Dr. Bonner about the petition and asked if she would do an on camera interview. She said her only comment on the matter is “I have no comment."

Hennessey did not return our call.

The next meeting is scheduled for May 24. Parents will present the board with the petition.
