DANIELSON--Thousands of consumers are sounding off in online reviews about fast-fashion websites based in China, making claims about orders never received, unresponsive customer service and poor quality.

Tammy Faucher, a mom from Danielson, ordered monogrammed shirts for her teen daughters off of RoseWholesale.com, a website she found through Facebook advertisements.

“I will never order from them again,” said Faucher.

One top that Faucher received was monogrammed with the wrong initials. The other contained symbols not even in the alphabet. Faucher said she purchased these shirts specifically because her grandmother had given her a monogrammed shirt when she was a child. “I was kind of hoping for at least the same sentiment to be able to give something to my daughter,” said Faucher.

The order also took several weeks to arrive. “I ordered them the second-to-last day of January,” said Matthews. “I got them March, I think March 14.”

When Matthews looked into making a return, she discovered the cost of return shipping would have been double her purchase price.

Like Faucher, Matthews said she found the website through a Facebook advertisement.

In a statement to FOX 61, Facebook said, in part:

We do take these concerns about low-quality retailers seriously and want to do more to ensure people have a great experience with businesses we connect them with. So we are exploring ways to better understand -- at scale -- whether businesses with Pages or running ads are complying with our policy against ‘deceptive claims, offers, or business practices’ even off of Facebook, so we can be more proactive about addressing the challenge.

Both RoseWholesale.com and Rosegal.com are linked to Chinese commerce company Global Egrow. Global Egrow’s email address is linked to 47 other websites, including Dress Lily, Trendsgal, Nasty Dress, TwinkleDeals, Sammy Dress and Zaful.

In online reviews, many customers claim the sites’ pictures are ripped off of fashion sites, blogs and Instagram.

"They need to show real pictures of what they actually make, instead of, I don’t know, (it) looked like they grabbed pictures off the internet," said Matthews.

In emails to FOX 61, Rosegal said, in part, "Now most of the pictures on our website were taken by our company...we will take 100% pictures by our company in the near future."

Rosegal also said its products go through strict quality control and that it takes immediate action against photo complaints.

The Better Business Bureau has issued "F" ratings or alerts about several of the companies. Sammy Dress, Nasty Dress and Trendsgal received both "F" ratings and alerts from the BBB. Dress Lily and Romwe both received "F" ratings.
