GLASTONBURY -- A volunteer effort will improve the home - and life - of a Glastonbury WWII veteran.

On Thursday, over 35 local Home Depot workers partnered with the Marine Corp League to transform the home of Marine Corp veteran John Dysenchuk, 92, who fought in the Battle of Iowa Jima.

His house needed many renovations, including roof repairs, to remain safe and accessible for him and Dysenchuk isn’t physically able to make the repairs himself any longer.

Some of the projects the volunteers worked on throughout the day included repairing a leaky roof, installing new exterior doors, replacing an old shed and landscaping the yard.
