NEW BRITAIN – Hartford Yard Goats fans are still waiting for the stadium opening but not all Connecticut baseball lovers are feeling the sting.

The Bees are already a month into their new season at the New Britain stadium.

“It's been absolutely fabulous. We couldn’t be happier with the reception we received from fans all around the state,” General Manager Patrick Day said.

Fans at the game Sunday said they are happy to support the team at home.

“It creates a family event and activity that you can do together, spend time together. We teach our kids about the game,” said East Hartford fan Michelle Carras. “It’s wonderful. We’re very fortunate here.”

“This is home,” New Britain resident Junior Ramirez said. “I support the home team. That’s what we’re supposed to do.”

Day said cold temperatures and rainy weather impacted the season right out of the gate, significantly impacting eight or nine games. The sunshine has him and fans hopeful the stadium will get the same attention it got in the past.

“We’re a new franchise so I'm really trying not to compare things but if you look at the numbers they're pretty similar,” Day said. “I'm confident as a lot of people have told us that the way the history is that this will continue to build and build.”

The Bees won their game against York Revolution 3-2. The team hosts its next game on Tuesday.
