HARTFORD - A meeting has been called to discuss possible resolutions after the developer for the Yard Goats stadium failed to set up a meeting between its insurance company and the Hartford Stadium Authority.

The meeting is at 1 p.m. Thursday at City Hall.

Last Friday the developer and HSA met to discuss the developer's failure to meet set deadlines for park completion. At that point, the city announced that it would demand payment from DoNoHartford LLC and Centerplan Co. for missing that deadline. The fines were to the tune of $50,000 for May 17, and $15,000 for each day after that until the park is "substantially complete." At that meeting, the HSA also demanded that the developers set up a meeting with its insurance company for the $63 million Dunkin' Donuts Park.

"Calling the bond is an option," said Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin. "We need to make sure that there's a partner on the other side that is demonstrating the financial and technical capacity and the commitment to get this job done without any further burden to the taxpayers of the city of Hartford."

A special meeting of the Hartford Stadium Authority has been planned for Thursday afternoon with the objective being to give the HSA the power to take any action necessary against the stadium developers including rescinding the $63 million bond in the next day or two, which would mean construction would stop immediately. Rescinding the bond would mean filing a claim with the developers' insurance company for the value of the stadium.

Bronin says Hartford has received no money from any fines or damages.
