HARTFORD — Fire crews fought a two alarm fire in the South End Thursday morning that damaged a building with stores and apartments.

The fire was located near Campfield Avenue and Maple Avenue. Two people in the store were able to make it out safely. Residents of the second floor apartment were able to make it out safely as well.

Most of the damage was on the unoccupied third floor.

Maple Avenue is closed due to the fire. Officials said people should use Broad Street, Wethersfield Avenue and Fairfield Avenue instead.
