HARTFORD -- A new initiative is sweeping the streets in Hartford, aimed at strengthening the relationship between police and the community. Pastor Eli Mercado and Richard Frieder stopped by FOX 61's Good Day Connecticut to talk about "Know Thy Neighbor."
The project is launched in the Clay Arsenal neighborhood, especially Mather Street and Brook Street.
Frieder once worked for the Hartford Public Library as the Director of Community Engagement for the city. When he was laid off, he knew he wanted to get involved with this cause.
Frieder and Hartford Police Chief Rovella work together with faith-based groups in the area to bring together police and the community.
