HAMDEN — Police have made an arrest several days after a man was injured in his home during a home invasion.

On June 3, Hamden police responded to an Arch Street address around 10 p.m. after a 63-year-old man reported that he had answered a knock on his door, and when he opened the door a man wearing a mask who was dressed in dark clothing and holding a knife forced his way into the victim’s home. The two got into a physical struggle, and the suspect punched the victim in the face and then cut him on his arms with the knife.

The suspect stole $540 that the victim had on him and left.

An investigation led to the arrest of Kenneth McKay, 23, of Enfield, on June 5. He was charged with home invasion, robbery in the first degree and assault in the second degree on an elderly person. The state of Connecticut defines “elderly” as someone over the age of 60 in cases of assault.

He is being held on a $250,000 bond and will appear in court on June 17.
