FAIRFIELD - The Tigers of Daniel Hand punched their ticket for a return trip to the Class M Lacrosse State Final Wednesday night with a tough 8-7 victory over the Rebels from New Fairfield.

The Rebels started the scoring midway through the first quarter when John Morgan grabbed the rebound and stuffed it home to give New Fairfield a 1-0 lead. From there, the game just got more interesting.

At the six-minute mark of the second quarter George McGuirk finds space in front of the net and tied the game 3-3. The game would be tied 4-4 at the half and the action in the second half never slowed down.

In the third quarter Lucas Mendicino works inside for the point-blank shot and goal which gave the Tigers their first lead 6-5.

Late in the fourth quarter the game would once again be tied at seven apiece when Riley Filler started the fast break for Daniel Hand and found Nathaniel Palumbo who found the net with the game winning shot.

The Daniel Tigers win 8-7 and will get a rematch with the Rams of New Cannan on Saturday.
