STAMFORD — A 16-year-old Stamford teen charged in a fatal stabbing that police say began as a fight over spilled coffee has been offered a plea deal.

The Stamford Advocate reports  that Stamford prosecutors offered a deal to Marquest Hall. The defense will accept or reject the offer at the next court appearance on June 29. Details of the offer weren’t discussed.

The Stamford teen has been charged as an adult with murder in the March 2015 stabbing death of 52-year-old Antonio Muralles. He pleaded not guilty.

Police say it happened after Muralles bumped into Hall and may have spilled coffee on him outside a McDonald’s.

Police say witnesses told them Hall and a co-defendant were hanging out in front of the restaurant looking for a fight before they attacked Muralles.
