TRUMBULL--The entire Trumbull Police Department is mourning after the loss of a K9 that had been with the department for seven years.
K9 Cyrus unexpectedly died in his sleep this week from a stomach issue at age 8. On Tuesday officers and personnel from the department, as well as staff at the animal clinic where Cyrus was cared for, lined up and saluted the beloved pup.
During his career Cyrus helped make numerous felony arrests, found missing people and helped with numerous drug arrests. One large heroin seizure netted several bricks of the deadly drug, as seen in the picture below.
Officer RJ Carlson was Cyrus' partner, and Cryus was a part of the Carlson and Trumbull Police families.
