MIDDLETOWN — Wesleyan University has established a scholarship honoring alumni Lin-Manuel Miranda and Thomas Kail, the creative forces behind Broadway's smash musical "Hamilton."

The school announced the Wesleyan University Hamilton Prize for Creativity on Wednesday.

The four-year, full-tuition scholarship will be awarded to an incoming student who submits a creative written work judged to "best reflect originality, artistry and dynamism."

Miranda graduated from Wesleyan in 2002 and Kail in 1999.

Hamilton, written by and starring Miranda and directed by Kail, has taken the country by storm and on Sunday won 11 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Direction of a Musical, Best Book, Best Original Score, and others. It had received a record-breaking 16 nominations.
