WINCHESTER — A passing motorist pulled a driver out of a crashed car shortly before it burst into flames Thursday morning.
Officials said a one car crash caused the road closure from Route 20 to Deer Hill Road. The road has reopened. Police said a car was driving north and crossed the road hitting a telephone pole. Another driver passing by pulled the car’s driver out before the car burst into flames. The driver was seriously injured and taken to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and then transferred to Hartford Hospital by Lifestar.
The injured person is listed as critical.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation said at 4:22 a.m. the road was expected to be closed for several hours.
