HARTFORD — A 22-year-old man convicted of fatally shooting another man in Hartford has been sentenced to 50 years behind bars.
The Hartford Courant reports that a Superior Court judge told Cleveland Brown he was a cold-blooded killer before sentencing him on Monday in Hartford for the death of Tyron Taylor.
A jury convicted Brown of murder and possession of a pistol without a permit on March 10. Brown has maintained his innocence and says he plans to appeal.
Prosecutors say witnesses testified that they watched Brown shoot the 33-year-old Taylor on the morning of June 11, 2014. Taylor was taken to a hospital where he later died. The shooting followed a confrontation that happened in front of a grocery store.
