GROTON--It's been 100 years since the naval submarine base in Groton opened up for business, and now it's time to celebrate.

Sailors, Gov. Dan Malloy and Rep. Joe Courtney spoke at a ceremony at the Naval Submarine Base New London on Tuesday, encouraging the relationship the base has developed with the state and surrounding area.

"We're here today to look backwards over the last 100 years whether its the outstanding military service that took place here during the years, the political support that kept that mission alive, but also to look forward and what we are seeing are new investment new missions and new cooperation in partnership with the state of ct and the folks that work here every single day," Courtney said.
