WATERBURY - A unique school bus violence prevention training session was held Wednesday in Waterbury by All-Star Transportation.
The day-long session trained full-time All-Star staff on the indicators of violence, de-escalation techniques, concealed weapon identification, hijacking/active shooter and intruder response training.
The training was held at Marriott’s Courtyard in downtown Waterbury. The morning consisted of classroom training followed by instructors conducting hands-on training on school busses.
The training was conducted by a tactical team composed of SWAT members and military personnel, who showed the bus drivers how to deal with a number of unexpected situations.
The bus company said the training doesn't just help keep students safe but puts an additional set of eyes on the community, too.
