FAIRFIELD–The body of a boater who went missing 11 days ago was found on a Fairfield beach on Thursday.
On June 12, crews began searching the water near Seaside Park in Bridgeport after learning of a missing boater. Two men had been on a 14-foot inflatable raft around 4:30 p.m. when they entered the water for an unknown reason. One man was able to swim to shore, but he lost sight of the other man.
The Coast Guard and Bridgeport and Fairfield fire departments searched with boats, helicopters and other teams, but were unable to find the man.
Thursday afternoon the man’s body washed up on Jennings Beach in Fairfield, according to Bridgeport officials.
Police have not yet released an identification of the boater,
