NEW HAVEN — Police in New Haven are investigating after a woman was sexually assault at gunpoint Thursday morning.
Police said the woman reported she was sexually assaulted twice by the man.
The victim said she was picked up by her assailant out of town and driven to the park, police said. She said she was first assaulted in the lower parking lot on the Hamden side and then a second time in an area between there and the summit.
She said the man drove her to the Fair Haven neighborhood after assaulting her, according to police. Detectives believe the encounter was not random, police said.
Investigators have searched areas of East Rock Park for evidence. The case remains open and under investigation, police said.
