WESTPORT – A car took out a telephone pole and burst into flames in an early morning accident in Westport.
Police said first responders got to the serious crash at 485 Post Road East shortly after midnight.
The car took down a telephone pole and burst into flames but the driver was able to escape the car unharmed.
Police said the car was totally engulfed by fire and firefighters had to act quickly to extinguish it to avoid the power lines and pole from becoming further involved.
Post Road was closed for hours while the Westport Fire Department secured the scene, WPD investigated the crash and the power company restored power.
