Colorado train crash

TRINIDAD, Colo — Five people were killed when a train crashed into a van in Colorado on Sunday, authorities said.

The van’s right side was hit after it failed to yield the right of way to the train, Colorado State Patrol said in a news release.

The driver and four passengers were killed. One occupant was airlifted to Denver Hospital with injuries police described as serious.

No train passengers or crew members were hurt. The victims were all members of one family according to KDVR.

Authorities said the van was not stopped on the railroad tracks.

The crash happened about three miles north of Trinidad, Colorado.

A Go Fund Me page has been created to help pay for the family’s funeral expenses as well as Heidi Miller’s Life Flight to Children’s Hospital.
