EAST HAVEN – Police have identified Adriana Catana, 68, from Trumbull, as the woman who died after a 6-vehicle chain-reaction crash in East Haven on I-95 North between exits 51-53 on Saturday morning at around 11:15 a.m.
The car Catana was driving in was hit from behind by another car, causing a chain reaction. The vehicle was subsequently pushed into the cement jersey barrier in the right shoulder.
The highway was congested for almost four miles between exits 44-53 as of 11:30 a.m.
The Connecticut State Police said all lanes were opened again as of 3:35 p.m.
Several people were taken to hospitals for various non-life threatening injuries.
Some people needed to be extracted from their vehicles, according to police, and a tractor-trailer was involved in the accident.
Police say the accident remains under investigation.
