GROTON — Authorities have seized 500 bags of tainted heroin and arrested two Connecticut men and charged them with drug offenses.

Members of a drug task force made the arrests about 3 p.m. Friday after approaching a car parked at a Groton business. The occupants were arrested after trying to drive away. The bags of heroin later tested positive for Fentanyl, a powerful opioid painkiller believed to have caused recent overdoses.

Police charged 26-year-old Robert Cabanban of New London with possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell and interfering with an officer, and 22-year-old Paul Concordia of East Lyme is charged with conspiracy to possess narcotics with intent to sell and interfering with an officer.

They’re being held on $ 250,000.00 bond. It wasn’t immediately known if they’re represented by lawyers.
