NEW BRITAIN - Fireworks were promised for after the game but the New Britain Bees supplied plenty on the field, too, as they defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 5-1 at New Britain Stadium Saturday night.

The Bees jumped out to a quick lead in the first inning, thanks to an RBI single by Jonathan Roof.

In in the top of the fifth, after a Blue Crabs fly ball to deep centerfield,  New Britain centerfielder Jon Jones showed off his arm by throwing out a Maryland runner at the plate who tagged up at third, to end the inning.

The seventh inning brought the highlight of the night, off the grounder to third Jovan Rosa, who fields the ball, steps on the bag, and throws to Jonathan Roof at second who sends it to Jon Griffin at first who makes the tag to get the unbelievable triple play for New Britain.

Rosa added a 2 RBI double in the bottom of the inning as the Bees cruised to a 5-1 victory.
