WESTPORT - The Westport Fire department was dispatched to a report of a car fire on the Merritt Parkway South at exit 42 Saturday at about 6:45 p.m.
Firefighters arrived and found a fully involved car fire in the breakdown lane and went to work putting out the fire.
One lane was temporarily shut down while the fire was being put out and cleaned up.
The scene was cleared about an hour later.
