NEW HARTFORD – State Environmental Police said a Granby man died when he was crushed while under his car.

Brendan P. Kohrer, 41, was pronounced dead Saturday night in Nepaug State Forest along the New Hartford town line when he was crushed while under his car, according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Environmental Conservation Police.

They said Kohrer had pulled his 2001 Ford Explorer off the access road inside the state forest onto an unauthorized side trail.

He was apparently underneath the vehicle to inspect or repair it when it rolled over onto him, according to police.

Police said they were notified at around 7:30 by other people driving on the access road who saw Kohrer’s vehicle.
