HAMDEN - Hamden Post 88 hosted East Haven 89ers in American Legion Baseball Wednesday night at Rockford Field in Hamden.
The teams were scoreless until the top of the third when East Haven’s Tyler Leone ground out but in the process drive home Gabe Longley to put 89ers up 1-0.
In the bottom of the fifth, Hamden would strike back. Eli Camner sends a fly ball to deep center and two runs score as Post 88 went up 2-1.
The drama wasn’t over. In the top of the seventh, the 89ers would have the tying run at second and the go ahead run at the plate when off the East Haven hit Mike Ferrett on the mound made the play and threw to first for the final out as Hamden held on to win 2-1.
