HARTFORD -- The developers of Dunkin' Donuts Park and its construction company are firing back at Mayor Luke Bronin and the city of Hartford over who is paying to finish the job.

Bronin said Wednesday that the developers latest proposal wasn't serious and it didn't do enough to protect the city.

"It's just that the documents don't actually say they'll foot the bill," Bronin said. "If they said that, it would be a different discussion but these documents don't actually say it."

Bronin's comments aren't sitting well with Centerplan CEO Robert Landino, who released a statement on Wednesday saying the proposal explicitly stipulates that Centerplan would pay for the costs necessary to complete the ballpark and that both the city and Centerplan reserve all rights to settle any outstanding disputes at a later time.

Landino acknowledged that some of the language was vague but he is not backing down from his promise to complete the park, he just wants to maintain the ability to seek repayment.

Developers Do-No Hartford, who is seeking to get control back to complete construction, has even launched a website finishtheballpark.com in an effort to get the deal done.

For now, Arch Insurance Company is holding the cards on completing the park as the investigation is ongoing which could take weeks to be finished.
