WEST HARTFORD --After an international trip earlier this spring, Team USA returned the favor to its Cuban counterparts this week, playing host to a U-15 baseball team from Holguin, Cuba.

The team played its first game on American soil Monday afternoon at the University of Hartford.

"It's an honor, a good honor, to represent my country and share our country here," said Cristin Marrero, a 14-year-old pitcher for Team Cuba.

The visit comes after a group of West Hartford teens traveled to Cuba in April to play baseball and learn about the culture of the island.

"We had people in the stands playing drums, the moms would come around passing pineapple to us," said Kim Howe, one of the team moms who went on the trip. "It was so amazing that we wanted to do the same thing for them."

While visiting the United States, the team will tour Connecticut landmarks and visit the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
