Route 9 in the northbound direction was closed after several vehicles crashed between exits 12 and 15.
The crash was reported around 5 p.m., and the road reopened around 6 p.m. However, congestion lingered for the evening commute.
Traffic cameras showed the backup going on for several exits right after the crash.
Police have not released any information on injuries.
